About him
I returned to Cambridge in 2024, nearly fifty years after studying here, and I’m enjoying getting to know it again. I love the open views from my home, the Botanic Garden and the city’s parks. I’m equally happy heading to London for a concert or spending a day on the Norfolk coast.
After twenty years in academic research, I’m beginning a new chapter. I hope to draw on my work on disability to write practical self-help books and mentor disabled people. I enjoy having a project to pursue, as well as time to explore.
Travel is one of my greatest pleasures. I usually take several trips abroad each year, especially to places with beautiful coastlines, lakes or mountains. Two highlights of my trip to Switzerland in summer 2026 were Lake Lucerne and the Matterhorn. There’s still plenty I’d like to see, and I’d love to share some of it with someone whose company I enjoy, whether we’re travelling or spending a day in Cambridge.
