About him
I have a positive and optimistic outlook on life. Calm gentle and considerate are epithets that friends have attributed to me. Adversity besets all of us occasionally but my nature seems always to keep me on top of misfortune.
I enjoy the Great Outdoors especially walking in rugged countryside. I've trekked the English National Parks but also across Europe from the Massif Centrale in France were I had a second home, to the Tatras [Slovakia / Poland]. Walks alone are manageable but I would really enjoy them more with feminine company. Stops en-route in country pubs are best done with company, not alone.
At home I love to cook and my large garden keeps me busy. I enjoy growing unusual veg [e.g. white/yellow beetroot, purple carrots, blue tomatoes] for the kitchen. I tend to leave the flowers to a gardener.
Foreign travel has been an important part of my life and I have seen all the continents [yes, even the VERY southern one]. I really do enjoy the quirky and a life-highlight was in Mongolia in a tent where I was offered mare's milk yogurt and cheese. I ate them with great relish so I could be fairly described as a natural traveller.
That said, I am looking to explore Britain more so I may be of interest for anyone who relishes the thought of short breaks in UK locations.
'Looking for friendship' means I am NOT here principally to find a deep meaningful relationship - that part of my life is most probably behind me. However I am loyal, considerate and honest with my friends. I may sometimes seem flippant - that's just my impish sense of humour breaking through - and I would enjoy being with someone who can be flippant with light-hearted humour too and not take themselves too seriously.
Life is too short for ill-feelings so my philosophy is that we should enjoy what time any of us have left before the grim reaper comes a-knocking at the door - he may not serve Notice!

Calm gentle considerate and LOYAL to real friends . I am looking for someone who can share my interests in walking and food but I am always happy to meet someone who can show me something new in life. I may have a science/engineering background but a good match may have quite different interests. As a "Documentary Addict" I'd welcome other topics in my life and only ask for patience and understanding if I'm not able to knit a Fair-Isle sweater after one knitting lesson {or similar!}
I would enjoy being with someone with light-hearted humour too and not take themselves too seriously. But I am looking for a thoughtful person who is loyal to our friendship. Someone who would enjoy short breaks to explore the UK would make a good match.
I dislike shallow people who use others simply to get what they are after. I have encountered disloyalty but now I'm old enough to be quite adept at spotting the 'phoneys'.
